Omega-5 gliadin - the diagnostic antigen in WDEIA
Wheat dependent exercise induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA) is the result of an IgE-mediated allergic response to the omega-5 gliadin, a wheat gluten component circulating in the blood after exercise or prolonged use of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). Omega-5 gliadin is produced recombinantly and purified by a procedure involving several chromatographic and precipitation steps, resulting in a highly pure omega-5 gliadin preparation.
